Georgetown 1920 Census

We're in the process of getting the text from the 1920 Georgetown census. I haven't seen any direct ancestors yet but did find a George Tidd living with his daughter Nellie Hardy and her family and a John & Louise Prescott, child Charles and two step kids with a last name of McBride (can't read first names).

The census images are amazing. It blows me away to see them handwritten, which of course is how they used to be done, but striking to think about how much effort and care have gone into these things for so many years. Jeff, it sounds like you are getting them in digital format for work. How are you doing that? Are they already in digital format at the census bureau and you're importing them for your own purposes, or are you taking photos/images from actual paper? I'm curious!

This isn't work related. It's a volunteer project where people read these census records and type what's handwritten. www.familysearchindexing.org has all the info - plus all the data that's been collected so far is at....

Completed indexes are free to the public and can be searched now at www.familysearch.org (point your mouse at Search Records and then click Record Search pilot).
